How is tarabalam calculated?
By counting from your birth star to today's star and reducing by nine to get the tara. Taras 2, 4, 6, 8, 9 are good; 3, 5, 7 (Vipat, Pratyari, Vadha) are to be avoided; 1 (Janma) is mixed.
Does it change daily?
Yes. The nakshatra changes roughly every day, so the tara — and the day's quality — shifts from day to day.
How is it different from rasi palan?
Rasi palan is based on the Moon's transit from your birth rashi; tarabalam is based on the nakshatra. Both indicate the day's quality.
