Gowri Panchangam divides the time between sunrise and sunset into eight equal segments, each ruled by one graha. Five are auspicious (Amirdham, Uthi, Laabam, Dhanam, Sugam) and three are inauspicious (Rogam, Soram, Visham). Each weekday begins on the segment ruled by that day's own lord.

Frequently asked questions
What is Gowri Panchangam?
It divides daytime into 8 equal segments, five good and three bad. Each weekday starts on the segment ruled by that day's lord. Important events are planned during good segments like Amirdham and Laabam.
How is Gowri Panchangam calculated?
The total daylight (sunrise to sunset) is divided into 8 equal parts. Each part is assigned a Gowri name in a fixed cyclic order that starts on a different segment depending on the weekday.
